How a restaurant gets recommended here
Most restaurant sites rank whatever is popular. We publish a recommendation only after someone has eaten the food. Here is the whole process.

An editor goes, and pays
No press dinners, no comped meals, no ranking from a photograph. A restaurant cannot enter the recommendation path until an editor has sat in the room and eaten there.

It is scored out of 100
Food carries 70 points. Service, room and value carry 10 each. Food is most of the score because food is most of the reason to go.

Above 80, and approved
A score over 80 makes a restaurant eligible; an editor still has to approve it. Anything at or below 80 stays a directory record you can look up, and is never presented as a recommendation. 90 and above takes two separate visits.

Then diners get their own say
A public Community Score appears only once ten people have rated it with a verified receipt. Ratings without one stay private to the person who left them, so nobody can vote a room up or down without having been in it.
